Drug Treatment for Infertility
To treat infertility among men and women, a group of
drugs categorized as infertility drugs are used in partnership with
other kinds of
infertility medications or treatments.
In women, infertility drug zeroes in on a two-pronged
assault on body organs responsible for hormone production to make them
produce more hormones needed by the female body in its conception
process and in other body parts to produce better quality eggs that can
easily team up with any male sperm cell to produce a baby.
While in
men, these groups of drugs can also help in making their testosterone
come up to a higher level. Although most of the infertility
drugs that are marketed are for women, there are also infertility drugs
that are for men. These kinds of drugs are basically formulated
to produce quality sperm
in men in terms of forms and sizes. Considering that women are the ones
who will carry the joys of pregnancy, infertility drugs are therefore
tailored more for the woman more than the man.
Kinds of Infertility Drugs
Clomid - In women,
one of the major causes of infertility is the inability of a woman to
properly ovulate and for her ovaries to produce the needed and
essential mature eggs needed for conception with a male sperm
cell. This is one of the causes why many couples could not bear
children. An infertility drug known as Clomid helps women with this
kind of problem. A regular dose of Clomid would make it work on
the ovaries of a woman to make it respond by producing mature eggs.
Clomid is known to work effectively and is now widely used in the
United Kingdom and also in the United States. A strict monitoring of your physical
status, however, is needed to know if you are pregnant or not. Once
you are pregnant, it is important that you stop immediately your use of
Clomid. This is necessary because continued use of Clomid even
when the woman is already pregnant can result to birth defect. .
Progesterone - It has been medically
established that a lack of the hormone progesterone in women will
result to infertility. This kind of drug is especially formulated
for women to aid in the fertilization of eggs towards conception.
Although the use of progesterone will result to some minor side
effects, it is generally considered as safe.
One advantage in using progesterone is that it thickens
the uterus lining in preparation for pregnancy. It also provides
proper blood flow to the uterus lining. Although progesterone is
natural to a woman’s body, there is always the possibility that due to
some body chemistry, the body of a woman can sometimes lack this
hormone which her body needs to be sufficiently fertile.
Progesterone is produced after a woman ovulates.
This female hormone is most especially helpful during a
woman’s pregnancy because it is responsible for thickening
the over-all linings of a woman uterus where the fetus would be
attached in the course of conception. A thickened uterus is
necessary for the comfort of a growing fetus. And since progesterone
also enhances the proper blood circulation in the lining, a thickened
uterus wall with sufficient blood circulation will provide the growing
fetus a safe wall for its continued growth until birth.
Medication for Hypothyroidism –
abnormal ovulation and weight problems are caused by hypothyroidism in
women. For men, it is necessary that they go on medication because this
disease if left untreated will make them unable to have an erection for
sufficient penetration during sex, to have a baby. Aside from erection problems,
men can also suffer from premature ejaculation because of this
disease.
