Vitamin C and Fertility
One of the vitamins that is considered highly efficient in aiding fertility in couples is vitamin C. After exhaustive medical research to the usefulness of vitamin C, it has been discovered that aside from its natural property, an anti oxidant, it also is an integral part in a biochemical process that would result to better normal production of male sperm.
For many people who suffer vitamin C deficiency, cases of scurvy would be noted whereby they would suffer gum bleeding with just a slight nudge of toothbrush, and their skin bruise just as easily on contact. Hair problem is also a sign of scurvy disease. Preventing this disease is easily done by taking in a lot of vitamin C which you can found from fruits and vegetables such as lemons, oranges, broccoli, strawberries and many other kinds.
Vitamin C actually is also a very good anti oxidant. Our sperm DNA is said to be fully protected if we have a regular intake of vitamin C daily. Thus, if you are under treatment for infertility, you can also help out the other kinds of drugs that you take by eating a lot of vitamin c based foods, fruits and even juices.
One way to learn if you have quality sperm is by its stickiness. It was discovered from medical studies that a sticky sperm is a cause of infertility in men. A sperm that is less sticky is of good quality compared to a sticky sperm. Vitamin C is said to make the sperm less sticky to provide for its fertility. Thus, if you want to have a non-sticky sperm and a fertile one at that, just eat a lot of oranges and broccoli or grapefruit.
There was a study made on the effects of vitamin C in men. A group of men all with low quality sperm were divided into two groups with one group subjected to a daily high dosage of vitamin C while the other group was not subjected to any vitamin C intake. After two weeks of high vitamin C intake, the first group showed a very good quality of sperm while the second group remained having low quality sperms. On the third week, the groups were encouraged to have a steady sexual intercourse with their respective wives. The result, all the wives of vitamin C taking men were impregnated while the wives of those men belonging to the second group who were not given the high doses of vitamin C supplement did not become pregnant.
These vitamin c pregnancy related test was also made on a group of women. After several weeks, it was revealed that the group of women who took a daily dose of vitamin C vitamins experienced a higher level of progesterone and estrogen levels which is very necessary for a woman to have a good fertility level. The second group that was not given vitamin C dosages was still having their progesterone and estrogen at low levels.
